I don't have many of those. I did walk through a ground level trip wire in
the initial survey of the 110,000 acres of Fort Drum, NY now the home of the
10th Mountain Division, formerly of Camp Hale, CO, Senator Bob Dole's unit
(formed by a Dole of no relation it's said) I hear they're fighting the
Taoist fight out there at the former Camp Hale, whether to engineer the
river or not. Anyway, the purple smoke grenade I was told was to request an
air evacuation, perhaps representing the game would be up, which I have been
told is what archaeological sites at Fort Erwin, CA are, take a tank in one
lose your tank in the moving fire exercises.
More recently, I flagged a fairly larger smoke grenade in the West Point
Academy grounds undergoing testing for fixing up after Hurricane Floyd came
through creating alot of "tree throws" (Debert Site terminology, upturned
root systems from blow overs) after relating to the crew about being handed
a misfired smoke grenade in a tremendous downpour in the rain shadow of a
large tree at Fort Drum and clicking and tossing it into a cheese factory
foundation nearby. Nice orange smoke. At the time I was also told they were
going to tell everyone perhaps the powder blue ordnance at Fort Drum was
"high explosive" to deter collection by the invading contractors who have
since put up barracks, houses and support for about 10,000, replacing the
10,000 that left in the late 1940s I think, or have dwellers perilously
close in Philadelphia, NY.
