Maritime Archaeology (AIMA) Conference "Maritime Frontiers: Historical and
Technological Perspectives" are due by 20 June 2003.
The Conference is being held at Port Arthur, Tasmania, from 9th to 13
November 2003. Attached are the Call for Papers poster and the registration
form where you will find more information.

The Australasian Institute for Maritime Archaeology (AIMA) Annual
Conference 2003
Maritime Frontiers: Historical and Technological Perspectives
The Annual Conference of the Australasian Institute for Maritime
Archaeology (AIMA) is to be
held in Port Arthur, Tasman Peninsula, Tasmania from 9 November to 13
November 2003.
The Conference will be hosted by the Port Arthur Historic Site Management
Authority (PAHSMA)
with the support of the Tasmanian Heritage Office and Heritage Victoria.
The venue is the Port
Arthur Historic Site (www.portarthur.org.au).
The general format of the conference will be as follows:
9 November 2003: Opening night
10 -11 November 2003: Papers
12 - 13 November 2003: Workshops and Meetings

- The archaeology of convict experience
- The archaeology of new maritime industries
- Innovation and change in maritime technologies
- Watercraft as technological and cultural vector
- Technology on the frontier
- Technological tools for maritime archaeology
- Technological approaches to management, education and tourism
