I only get the digest version, so forgive me if someone has already mentioned this.  The Brush-Everard House excavations (1987-1989) at Colonial Williamsburg included contexts associated with John Brush, a gunsmith.  A report by Patricia Samford is available from

The HABS/HAER index does not appear to have anything pertinent.
Diderot illustrates a rifling machine and workshop on Plates 59 and 60=20
