Richard Pennycuick inquired about the status of the publications Stereo
Review and High Fidelity. High Fidelity ceased publication over 10 years
ago- in fact, I think the publisher of Stereo Review bought them out and
merged it into Stereo Review. As of about two years ago, Stereo Review
ceased publication. In some sense it morphed into Sound and Vision, a
magazine that I suspect would be useless to the vast majority of people
on this List (hint: the "vision" part is more important than the "sound"
part).
As an audiophile "wannabee", I think the best US magazine in the
tradition of what High Fidelity once stood for is "The Absolute Sound",
followed by "Stereophile". While both these mags cover the "classical
beat", CM is only a part of their purview. I gather there are some
British audiophile magazines that cover the field with traditional
British style.
