I'm a young listener as well. I'm twenty three years old. I started
listening to classical music when I turned fifteen. On my birthday I
had some birthday money. I wasn't quite sure what I wanted to buy. My
mother took me to the mall, I stepped into a music store. I saw in the
front of the store classical tapes and cds, they were all the Excelsior
label. Very cheap. As an impulsive buy I bought two tapes: Best of
Bach and Beethoven: Symphonies Nos 1 and 2. I wondered after I bought
them if I would like them, and why did I impulsively buy them? Anyway,
I listened to them when I got home. It sounded very foreign to me. I
decided I must break them in, since that's what I always do. That was
a good call. I was blown away by both tapes. I had never heard anything
so amazing! I listened to those tapes several times a day. Every
afternoon when I got home from school I would pop them in.

When I went to UC Davis I found there were quite a few peers that enjoyed
classical music. There were many concerts to go to. My favorites were
the free noon concerts they had every week. Now that I live in Penn
State there is only two people that I know that enjoy classical music.
There's not as many concerts. In Davis it was easy to find classical
cds. In State College it's difficult. There also not many bookstores
around here. It hardly seems like a college town. So I think that
finding people my age that listen to classical music depends alot on
where you live. See you first have to answer this multiple question:

Is the town that you live in a cultural wasteland?
A. Yes B. No
