Hello all,
I hope our international list-members will forgive me for the
localized email, but I was wondering about the impact of Hurricane
Katrina on the museums, historic sites, and our colleagues down on
the gulf coast.
First, I'll send out my best hopes for all our colleagues there. The
tragic consequences of this storm are staggering, only considering
things in human terms. I don't wish to minimize this- which is what
really matters. I hope our friends and their families are all
accounted for as things settle down. I'm sure everyone wishes them
the best and hopes that they can repair their homes and lives as
quickly as possible given conditions.
I'm also wondering the impact of the storm on the museums and
institutions. How have the universities faired? How about the major
museums? I am sure that the damage to historic sites will be
staggering and it will take us years to understand the storm's
effects. If any of our peers there could provide us with
information, I'm sure everyone on the list would appreciate it very
much.
My best to you all,
Tim
