My shoulder was resting on the foundation of the blacksmith shop and I was
straining to get a sample of the bottom of the charcoal pit with my
outstretched arm with a trowel at my fingertips. I'm 6'2 and the sterile
bottom was at 125 cm (50 inches). The worst part was not only that I was
blocking the light, but I was also in pure black charcoal, so I had to
climb in and out checking the trowel for a good sample of the subsoil.
After the crew pulled me out we went to lunch.
