Internationally Acclaimed Violinist Zina Schiff To Perform Richard Nanes
Rhapsody for Violin and Orchestra with Brooklyn Philharmonic at Annual
Holocaust Memorial Concert in New York City

Internationally acclaimed violinist Zina Schiff will perform American
composer Richard Nanes' Rhapsody Pathetique for Violin and Orchestra on
October 18, 2003 - 8 PM at New York City's Cathedral of St. John the
Divine, located at Amsterdam Avenue and 112th St.

Ms. Schiff will present the Nanes with the Brooklyn Philharmonic,
conducted by Arkady Leytush. Choral and orchestral music by Bach,
Shostakovich, Verdi, Orlando Jacinto Garcia and others will also be on
the programl, with the Trinity Church Choir, Owen Burdick, Director,
Maurice Edwards, Master of Ceremonies and special guest Metropolitan
Opera star tenor Francisco Casanova.

This concert, which is free and open to the public, is presented by the
Interfaith Committee of Remembrance as its annual memorial concert for
the victims of the Holocaust. This year, the Committee will honor Daniel
Libeskind (winner of the architecture design, for remaking the World
Trade Center Ground Zero) with the International Visionary Award and
Lorraine Beitler (leader in the development of programs that create
understanding and respect among diverse groups) with the Lifetime
Achievement Award.

Zina Schiff has dazzled audiences on four continents with both her
extensive standard and Jewish repertoire. A protegee of Jascha Heifetz,
Zina was infused with the spirit and tradition of the Jewish Folk Music
Society by her teacher. Heifetz was a student at the St. Petersburg
Conservatory when the Society was founded, and he championed the works
of its members throughout his illustrious career.

Her debut recordings were as soloist with the Israel Philharmonic
Orchestra, and she recorded the solo violin score by Academy-Award winner
Maurice Jarre for the MGM movie The Fixer.

Whether at Budapest's Dohany Street Synagogue, New York's Cathedral of
St. John the Divine, Philadelphia's Academy of Music, Chicago's Spertus
Institute, Los Angeles' University of Judaism, or San Diego's Jewish
Music Festival, Zina blends "luscious high-voltage vintage Heifetz" (New
York Times) with her passionate Jewish soul.
