San Jose Chamber Orchestra Presents West Coast Premiere of Salvatore
DiVittorio's Sinfonia No. 1., "Isolation" - March 9 at Le Petit Trianon
Concert Hall

The San Jose Chamber Orchestra, under the Music Direction of Barbara
Day Turner, will present the West Coast Debut of Salvatore DiVittorio's
Sinfonia No. 1, "Isolation" on Sunday, March 9, 2003,  7 PM at Le Petit
Trianon concert hall, 75 North Fifth Street in San Jose, California.
Music of Maria Newman and Mozart will also be presented

Tickets for the March 9 concert are $35, with discounts for students and
seniors and are available by calling 408 295-4416. More ticket and concert

Composer Salvatore DiVittorio lives in New York and is Composer-in-Residence
of the International Chamber Ensemble of Rome, which gave the U.S. debut
performance of the Sinfonia No. 1 last October at New York's Merkin Hall,
as well as the Orchestra dell'Accademia Musicale Siciliana of Palermo.
Recent commissions have included the opera "Romeo e Giulietta" for Teatro
Massimo Opera of Palermo, a song for chamber orchestra "Venus and Adonis"
for ICER, Orchestra, and the Orchestra dell'Accademia Musicale Siciliana.
Performances of his two symphonies have included Teatro Massimo Opera
Orchestra Concerts, Orchestra Filarmonica Franco Ferrara, Festival
Sinfonietta Umbria, and Orvieto Music Festival. Visit his website at

The San Jose Chamber Orchestra, under the Music Direction of Barbara
Day Turner, is dedicated to systematically mainstreaming quality chamber
orchestra repertoire written by composers with a wide spectrum of ethnic
and/or stylistic backgrounds into their regular subscription series. In
their first eight seasons they have commissioned and premiered 18 new
works, and presented the premieres of numerous others, including the
Pulitzer-nominated "Playing Fields" by Dan Wyman. Learn more about them
