Also of interest...Scarecrow just published her book on the Piano Music
of Bartok...and in release next month is a CD of her playing Bartok...it
includes the very romantic Piano Sonata of 1898. Listed in Groves and
other sources as being lost, the sonata was in the Morgan Library. I
believe this is the first recording. It is 25 minutes long and clearly
displays the influence of Brahms and Schubert. Also on the disc: 2
Elegies, Op.8a; Improvisations, Op.20; Four Dirges, Op.9a and the solo
piano version of the Rhapsody, Op.1
