Has anyone mentioned Varese? He's one of my favorite composers. I
think he's one of the most original composers (of any era). You can get
his complete works on two CD's, with Chailly and the RCO. My favorite
recording/performance of Equatorial is on Nonesuch, with the Contemporary
Chamber Ensemble, conducted by Arthur Weisberg. (I'd love to hear this
piece played on a juke box in a bar.)
