Dear list members, As we approach the anniversary of 9/11/01, I thought
it might be helpful and/or interesting to share with you a partial list
of the classical music my radio station, KUHF, played in the hours and
days immediately following those events. I was substituting for our
regular morning host at the time and attempted where possible to find
appropriate music to broadcast when not carrying NPRs special news
programming. The goal was to attempt in some small way to harness the
power of music to console, inspire and uplift during a time of national
tragedy and emotional distress.

This is only a partial list--one person's response to the moment--and
I certainly make no claims for its catholicity. I'm certain there are
those of you who will think of additional works worthy for inclusion in
this type of list. The station received many "thank you's" for the
thoughtfulness and timeliness of the special music programming.
