I would like to thank all of the HISTARCH subscribers who participated
in the wide discussion of returnable bottles. I think we all learned a
lot, including information from the personal stories and memories.

It seems there is little primary documentation on this system or
its introduction. If any of us find primary accounts (e.g. such as
when the system was introduced to store owners or customers by given
companies) we should let the list know about the source.

                                THANKS,

Robert L. [i.e. Lee for Robert E. Lee*]
                                 Schuyler

* My mother was from Virginia - the South - and I love grits which
I always look for at SHA meetings south of the Mason Dixon Line
(e.g. Mobile, Alabama).
