I believe you have your problem there. Just capped cells are very fragile and
should not be touched if possible. If you handle them before the pupa is formed,
keep the cell upside down when fitting the protector. What happens is the larvae
fall down from the royal jelly it's feeding on in the top of cell, and end up on
bottom where it can't crawl back up to the feed again. Wait until day 10 after
grafting and you will bee safe.
