As a sort of point of information, Ogdensburg, NY has or had the supposed
dubious record of having the greatest number of bars per person in the USA.
It also has the oldest continually operated US Customs House at the border.
It was once a fairly large trans-shipment point as many railroads ended as
railheads for Great Lakes shipping once. Many of the photos are strikingly
different from the past as it appears a good number of "brownstone"
buildings were there at one time. There are still a number of small "Mom and
Pop" corner bars. Also there is a museum of the American West one might say
as the works of Frederic Remington are housed in a museum to him and the
West. There was some venture capital invested in a bison ranch with rooms in
the "bunkhouse" for investors. The Amish still tie up there.
