Arizona Archaeological Society

Public Meeting and Field Trip, Saturday October 19, 2002

The Arizona Archaeological Society will be holding a public meeting in Kingman, Arizona to see if there is interest in revitalizing the Society’s Mohave Chapter. The meeting will be held at 10 AM on Saturday October 19, 2002 at the Bureau of Land Management Office, located at 2475 Beverly Avenue in Kingman. The meeting will discuss the Society, the opportunities available to members, and the requirements for reconstituting the Mohave Chapter. We are especially interested in finding people who would like to take leadership positions such as president, secretary, etc.

After the meeting, there will be a field trip to one of Kingman’s most beautiful rock writing sites. If you plan on attending the field trip, please be prepared to walk about a half-mile in moderate terrain and spend about two hours outdoors. Bring a hat, water, and lunch. You may be away from your vehicle for the whole two hours.

The Arizona Archaeological Society is a nonprofit organization with local chapters throughout Arizona. The Society’s objectives include fostering interest and research in Arizona archaeology, enhancing public knowledge of Arizona archaeology, and protecting antiquities by discouraging exploitation of archaeological resources.

The Society provides members with the opportunity to learn about archaeology and archaeological field methods, to be involved with archaeological fieldwork, and to participate in field trips to the region’s archaeological sites with other Society members.
