Gergiev's orchestra mix is powerfull, but I really think he's opting for
far to slow tempi and for the careful ear You can hear that the orchestras
dont blend perfectly: I've only heard part of Bychov over radio and found
the exerpt somewhat underpwered, I canmt say anything about his vission
of the whole.
I'm still with Ashkenzy on Decca and Ancerl on Supraphon as the bast
choices, the Kondrashin on Melodiya if You can get it is also very fine,
I'm not with Temirkanov (RCA) in this symphony.
