Aside from the "bleeding chunks" approach, e.g. the immolation scene,
Siegfried's Rhine Journey, etc., the first act of Die Walkure is sometimes
done in concert. Aside from that, it is usually all or nothing. At the
first performance of Rienzi, I think, the duration was such that it was
decided literally to stop the clock, I once read. Odd that there would be
one.
