For me, nobody played the cello like Jacqueline du Pre. Her heart was always 110% in what she played, and she could make the music really come from HER. Yes she had some quirks that annoyed some people, but everyone does to some extent. I have compiled a discography and some other things about her at: http://mmuelle.home.mindspring.com/dupre/ She recorded the Bach for the BBC when she was very young (it appears over 2 recordings, now available in one set): http://mmuelle.home.mindspring.com/dupre/cd00.htm http://mmuelle.home.mindspring.com/dupre/cd01.htm The only living cellist that I find plays in a way that moves me as Jackie did is Truls Mork. He has a great recording of the Britten. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00004Z34E/classicalnetA/ Miguel Muelle [log in to unmask] http://mmuelle.home.mindspring.com
