Why not get both?  The excellent package, A State of Wonder, contains
both the 1955 and 1981 Gould Goldbergs, plus the very entertaining
scripted dialogue between an intense but reasonably approachable Gould
and now Washington Post classical music reviewer Tim Page.  This three-disc
set is available everywhere for the price of a single disc.  Sony Classical
9699-87703-2.
