I have discovered a new series of mystery novels that have archaeology as
the backdrop and a women archaeologist as the detective. The author is Dana
Cameron.

The plots are well thought out and make wonderful reading, especially to
those of us in historical archaeology. Some of you may find that Dana's
comments hit very close to home, as she is a working archaeologist.

Site Unseen: An Emma Fielding Mystery (Avon, 2002).

This is Dana's first book and is about digging at a 17th century Maine
settlement.

Grave Consequences (Avon,
2002). http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0380819554/anitasbookshelf/
Emma Fielding goes to England to work on a 12th century abbey, but finds
several dead (recent) bodies as well.

Past Malice (Avon,
2003). http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0380819562/anitasbookshelf/
The mystery centers around an 18th century house. I am in the middle of
reading this one.
