National Archaeology Week Lectures - Wednesday 14th to Sun 18th May -

Dear list members,
National Archaeology Week is well underway. We thank everyone that has
offered support to get all the events up and running. The lecture series
being held at the Melbourne Museum continues through the week. There are
still a number of interesting lectures to attend either in lunch hours or in
the evening. bookings can be made at the number above.
Lectures are as follows:
Wed 14th May
1 pm Emeritus Professor Richard Wright "The Piltdown Hoax"
6 pm Emeritus Professor Richard Wright "Unearthing evil: how archaeology can
support investigations into war crimes"
(Please note: some of the matters dealt with in this seminar are inevitably
disturbing)
Thursday 15th May
1 pm Dr Li Liu, La Trobe University "China's ancient origins: artefacts from
the Qin and Han Dynasties"
Friday 16th May
Associate Professor Tony Sagona, Melbourne University "Ancient Civilisations
of Eastern Turkey: New Discoveries"
Sunday 18th May
Dr Patrick Greene, CEO, Museum of Victoria "What can archaeology reveal
about Europe's medieval monasteries?"
