Scott Morrison writes:
>He's one of the recent American composers to whose music I have felt
>particularly close, ever since I was blown away by the Composers Quartet
>recording of his Third String Quartet. And following that there have
>been a string of wonderful works like the Caprice Variations played so
>stunningly by Zvi Zeitlin, and the Violin Concerto.
It took me a long time to appreciate Rochberg - he seemed to be merely
revisiting the past. The Naxos recordings of the Violin Concerto and
the Fifth Symphony gave the lie to that.
