David Cozy asks,

>What evidence is there that Bach was (or was not) an earnest Christian?

He was an accomplished amateur theologian, by most accounts. Take that
for what it may be worth.

I don't believe in God, Wotan, Orpheus, Mephistopholes or the Queen of
the night, but I love some music about each of them.
