A Berlin Classics CD I received yesterday contains concertos for the
left hand by Martinu, Prokofiev and Dieter Nowka, the latter a name new
to me. The notes refer to left hand works by Ravel, Britten, Janacek,
Richard Strauss and Franz Schmidt. I knew all these, except the Schmidt.
Grove advised that Schmidt wrote not only a concerto for the left hand
but also Concertante Variations on a Theme of Beethoven. A search of
Gramofile and a couple of online outlets produced nothing. However,
it's possible that there has been a recording which wasn't reviewed in
Gramophone. Does anyone know of one? Are there other left hand concertos
of interest?
