Serkin? I don't have those recordings, and I'm not aware that Serkin
was a vocaliser, but it's quiote possible.
Glenn Gould was the most famous/notorious case, but many performers are
incapable of humming/singing/groaning (Barbirolli) along with the music.
Even Curzon, I discovered a few years ago while listening to his recording
of the Schubert B flat on headphones, was a hummer.
Possibility?
