Sorry folks, but I wrote Chostakovitch (French spelling) instead of
Shostakovich! No, I didin't forget his music, which I love! But I did
forget to mention some great composers such as Rubbra (Symphony No 5, among
others), Alfven (Midsommarvaka) and Cage (works for prepared piano). And,
of course, I still need to discover many 20th century composers, from
Foulds, Haba, Sulek and Tournemire to Golijov, Goebbels (Surrogate Cities?)
and Grisey. And you may help me to extend this list:-) I would also like
to listen to more pieces by Birtwistle, who is another big name missing on
my list (I can't say that I really *like* his music but I'm willing to give
it another try!). Any advice?
Cheers,
Daniel
