Christopher Webber, hanging in there for the cause of Regieoper's handling
of the received repertoire:

When you take into account the programming at the bigger houses I think
you'll find that the taste of "culinary-minded consumers" largely prevails.
The cheeky, provocative Regieoper performance at these houses, which
seem to feel obliged to indulge this sort of thing, provokes an eclat,
if at all, via the booing that the staging draws after the final curtain.
Such, at least, has been my experience.
