Hi All
> self-opening and self-closing vent
I have seen this at first hand in a full colony observation hive.
There were vents in the top made of perforated metal that the bees sealed
with propolis when they did not want it, but they re-opened the holes when
they needed the ventilation.
I am not particularly surprised that they could do this , but I would like
to understand the mechanism whereby they 'know' where a blocked up hole is
so that they can unblock it.
