Bob said: Consumers clearly need to know the source of the honey they are
buying.
It remains something of a puzzle why professional honey producers in USA do
not take more steps to protect their market by establishing a states-wide
marketing co-operative and developing a brand 'Honey produced wholly in the
USA' with a distinctive label , and contract to supply only selected packers
who agree to follow the co-op's own spec on blending.
When the 'honey from many countries' brands had to be withdrawn in UK due to
contamination, the demand for UK honey shot up and there was little or no
talk of price resistance.
Or perhaps such a co-op does exist? If so, does it do enough to emphasise
that the brand is guaranteed pure USA honey?
