This can be a problem if you close up the bar to the next one by sliding it
along. If you lift it slightly, by the depth of the bar, move it into position
and then lower it into place any bees on the face of the bars will simply be
pushed out of the way, above or below. However if the bar is lifted a little
too high there is a chance of scissoring bees. Generally, when handling a TBH
there is much less disturbance to the bees and so the beekeeper can take his
time to move bars gently.
It might help if the underside of the bars was bevelled on one side (or both)
to reduce the area of contact between the bars so less bees will get trapped.
