FYI : (For those Archaeologists interested in public outreach to schools,
K-12th grade)

Several regional and local NCSS (Social Studies Education) conferences are
coming up, including:

The Greater Metropolitan New York City Social Studies Conference (January
29, 2005)

The Northeast Regional Social Studies Conference (in Boston, March 14-17,
2005 )

(Representatives of these two conferences stopped at the Archaeology Booth
at NCSS when inviting exhibitors and I have the information they gave out
if anyone needs it : [log in to unmask]; [log in to unmask])

Unlike national NCSS conferences, regional and local conferences are quite
cheap to reserve a booth for and don't appear to need much of an advance
lead time, although for social studies outreach it seems advisable, for
content purposes as well as cost reasons, to team up with other archaeology
concerns (SAA, ASOR, local archaeology societies, avocational societies,
etc.).

Other upcoming regional and state NCSS meetings
(The submission dates for Exhibitors are usually different from the
conference 'presentation' schedule. If you wish to present an archaeology
workshop or to otherwise present research or lesson plans at one these
regional conferences you should contact the organizers ASAP to see if there
is still room on their conference schedule. )
