Ferry Farm (George Washington's boyhood home) in Stafford VA. has a
stone lined ice house that I believe they excavated and dates to that
early 20th century time period. Also CRI (Cultural Resources Inc.) was
working on a plantation in King George last year (Hopyard farm or
PopCastle Plantation) and I know they had identified a few pits, not
sure if they turned out to be ice houses or not. Hope this helps.

Hello, all;
Does anyone, perchance, have knowledge of reports or links to
excavations of icehouses or buildings/structures associated with
icehouses
or the ice harvesting industry? I'm trying to locate a little more
background information for a Phase I that I am working on. My site dates
to
the early twentieth century, but I'd be happy to read any data from
other
time periods, or from any region.
Cheers, everyone!
