POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT



PROJECT ARCHAEOLOGIST



SWCA Environmental Consultants in Austin, Texas is accepting applications
for the position of Project Archaeologist. Specialty in Historical
Archaeology preferred.



The Project Archaeologist will be responsible for conducting archaeological
surveys, testing, and data recovery projects in a timely and effective
manner while supervising field crews. Experience in archival and historical
research is required, including the preparation of chain-of-titles, historic
maps reviews, and creation of historic contexts.  This position is also
responsible for report preparation, historic artifact identification and
analysis, and potentially the preparation of proposals and execution of
research designs. Competence in architectural history a plus, such as
experience with National Register of Historic Places nominations,
preparation of architectural inventory forms, and viewshed analyses on
determinations of eligibility and effects.



Minimum requirements include a Masters degree in Anthropology, Archaeology,
Historic Preservation, History, or closely related field; Qualification
under the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards as an Archaeologist and
preferably as a Historian and/or Architectural Historian; and Knowledge of
the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 and applicable national
environmental legislation. Familiarity with the Antiquities Code of Texas a
plus.



The majority of the work will occur in Texas and a lesser amount in
surrounding states.  Salary range is $30,000–40,000, commensurate with
education and experience. The position is regular full-time and will average
40 hours a week .A generous benefit package includes health and dental
