The Debraak, a 1798 shipwreck, of the British Navy was salvaged in a
less than professional manner a few years ago. The collection is in the
possession of the State of Delaware. I heard a paper given on the
collection and they had some inscribed plates, they felt the plates
belonged to the marines on board. They hinted at symbolism but also
stressed the practicality of living on a ship and having one plate and
the need to personalize it. I think Chuck Fithian (sp?) is the contact
for the collection. He works for the State of Delaware's preservation
office. Other's can probably chime in on this and know more but I
figured I'd get the ball rolling. Included is a website with a bit more
info on the Debraak. Good luck and someone help with the contact info,
please.
