CONGRATULATIONS:
The Society for Historical Archaeology and its Awards Committee are
pleased to announce the selection of the third recipient of the
John L. Cotter Award. The award will be presented by our president,
Doug Armstrong, at the Friday Banquet-Awards Ceremony (January 11,
2002) in Mobile, Alabama to:
ELIZABETH J. KELLAR
She is being recognized for her outstanding work in establishing a
student presence in the governance and activities of the SHA. The
society is particularly noting her creation and building of the
Student Subcommittee for which she was the founding chair.
Please do not forget how rich the entire Awards Ceremony is going
to be with:
The J.C. Harrington Medal to Charles E. Cleland
Awards of Merit to: The Alabama Historical Commission
Judith A. Bense
Toni Carrell
Anita Cohen-Williams
We hear that voyageurs are already putting their canoes into the
Great Lakes to have time to work their way down the Mississippi
so as to arrive on January 11th for Chuck's presentation.
Also [this concerns you - HISTARCH readers], I am going to ask for
a show of hands at the ceremony for all members and users of HISTARCH -
so be there when we honor Anita.
There will be chairs put out for those not attending the banquet
so there will be room for all.

P.S. Did you see the glossy Preliminary Program put out by the
Mobile Committee - very impressive. It is going to be a wonderful
meeting.
