This will be a short review, and I refer readers to my previous review of
"Bach and the French Influence" also performed by Kimberly Marshall.

Concerning the "French" disc, I strongly recommended the recording for its
excellent programming, glowing and lively performances, and the versatile
Fisk Organ. However, my enthusiasm for the "Italian" disc is of a lower
magnitude primarily because of the programming.

The Frescobaldi works only take up about ten minutes of playing time, so
the bulk of the disc's value rests with the six Bach compositions. Except
for the two larger works(Toccatas & Fugues), the Bach offerings are not
among his more inspired organ works. Further, although a Wolfgang Rubsam
or Andrea Marcon can make these lesser works into something more enriching,
Ms. Marshall provides no similar magic.

Don's Conclusions: I recommend passing on the "Italian" recording and
going for the "French" disc which should represent a fine addition to one's
library of organ recordings.
