DUTIES:
The incumbent will be involved in field surveys of cultural resources and
recording historic and prehistoric sites in order to complete archaeological
clearance of various projects. The primary projects will involve the
evaluation of 2 historic logging sites: a logging camp and a mill site.
Additional projects will include other special use permits; a grazing
permit; vegetation management and animal control projects; other projects
as necessary.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
A. Degree: history or related field that included at least 18 semester
hours in history.
OR
B. Combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a
major in history or a major in a related field that included at least
18 semester hours in history, as shown in A above, plus appropriate
experience or additional education.
In addition to the above basic requirements, applicants must have either
1 full year of graduate level education OR superior academic
achievement OR 1 year of specialized experience which is at
least equivalent to the GS-5 level.
Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant
with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform
successfully the duties of the position and which is typically in
or related to the work of the position.
Superior Academic Achievement is based on (1) class standing,
(2) grade point average, or (3) honor society membership.
(1) Class Standing: applicants must be in the upper third
of the graduating class in the college, university, or
major subdivision, such as the College of Liberal Arts,
based on completed courses.
(2) Grade Point Average: applicants must have a grade point
average of:
a. 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 as recorded on
their official transcript, or as computed based on
4 years of education, or as computed based on
courses completed during the final 2 years of the
curriculum; OR
b. 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 based on the
average of the required courses completed in the
major field or the required courses in the major
field completed during the final 2 years of the
curriculum.
(3) Election to membership in a national scholastic honor
society: applicants can be considered eligible based on
membership in an eligible honor society.
