Well, Celibidache went further than that. He distrusted recording so
deeply that, as musical director of the Munich Philharmonic (an innings
lasting some 17 years), he generally eschewed recording commercially.
He did make exceptions, but then mostly on foreign tours at the urging
of his hosts.
