Koussevitzky was born and raised in the Jewish faith. Being the
opportunist, he was, when he had the chance to marry into money and have
a father-in-law finance an orchestra he could tour the Volga, he became
a Russian Orthodox. Arriving in Boston in 1924, he realized there were
no Russian Orthodox on the board of the BSO, but plenty of Episcopalians.
He then converted to become an Episcopalian.
