One good thing is that Mravinsky's Cds on different labels can be had at
very affordable prices, especially combing Used Cd stores. most of these
recordings are indeed live recordings. You may want to check later and
better (sound wise) takes on ERATO records. A 4 CD set worth its modest
price is the PRAGA collection that regroups Sym.5, 6, 11, 12, violin
concerto with King david (Oistrahk), plus a memorable Bartok's music for
strings etc..., and last, prokofiev sym 6 ("Mravinsky in Prague"). His
cameo rehearsal performance of Tchaikovsky 's #5 on the TELDEC video "great
conductors" is one of the most gripping moments of this indispensible
documentary.
