During yesterday's intermission program of the Met broadcast an *old*
(1908 ?) recording of a duet between Caruso and Geraldine Farrar was
played in which the latter substituted "He had a highball" for the
libretto text in apparent distaste for the former's having returned
from a lunch break smelling too much of the liquid portion of his meal.
Does anybody who listened to the broadcast recall what the opera was?
Also, I believe it was mentioned that this duet exists on record.
Would anybody be able to tell me where?
