While I agree that a white gut is a sure sign of a *problem* a white gut of
a bee with nosema would be hard to tell apart in my opinion which is the
reason I see little value in the above method except to give a general idea
of a gut problem.
Most EFB I find is easily seen (as pointed out by Peter Edwards) in the
larva stage as opposed to the pupa stage as with AFB.
I look for EFB first in the larva of the colony and not the gut of the bee.
