As someone who has used the Denver for years, I can tell you that every
nurse I know has adapted the kit. One of the items involves raisins for
infants, all the kits I have ever seen have the raisin replaced by some sort
of cereal of a small size, Cheerios, Kix, etc.
We have a number of kits here in the office, they all have a small plastic
spoon to go with the baby. The parts of the kit are expensive when ordered
from the company. You can make a replacement piece of yarn with any old red
yarn and so on.
I would imagine that the company wouldn't approve this, but it works for us.
