Dear All, Brilliant has issued a 5 CD set of the Beethoven symphonies
with the Staatskapelle Dresden conducted by Blomstedt.

This team made some stunning recordings of Mozart and Strauss (Dennon)
and I am intrigued to give the Beethoven a try. The complete set comes
to 11 (!)

Has anyone heard these performances?

The Strauss recordings were characterised by slightly acidic woodwind,
tight timpani and veiled floating strings. Also a natural warm resonant
acoustic.

Regards + thanks,
