Sorry for being late with this responce, I am having a problem posting
to the list.
This is a Sweet Orr & Co. Button, which comes in a variety of designs.
The company started in 1871 in Wappinger Falls
before moving to Newburgh, NY a few years later (Adams and Albert 1965;
Psota 2002:116).
Also it seems that embossed rivets were used in 1890s and not the first
decade of the 1900s as previously thought (see Levi
Strauss.com for reference). Please note this is a different tpq that my
article--changing research.
