Ned, et al.:
Thinking that my wife knew more about it than I did, as she used to work at
the Valentine Museum, I asked her what the Valentine Meat Juice was. All
she knew was that it was like a thick beef broth. Oh well, here's what I
know ... One of the Valentines was sick and one of the Valentines made a
juice or extract of beef marrow which cured whomever and they decided to
market it to great success. I recall that the went in to business less
than a decade after the end of the war (THE WAR, of Northern Agression,
that is), c. 1870. The made other stuff also, but their meat juices were
famous across the US although I don't ever recall finding one of their bottles.
