There are plenty of archival sources for military buildings of World
War II, such as the archive at Fort Belvoir. I don't think that
recording the buildings is the issue. We should focus instead on
recording the environments of, and later modifications to, these
"standard" buildings. What's really interesting is the postwar
history of these buildings, especially in private hands. In Iceland,
the war-surplus quonset huts revolutionized farm architecture.
