  1977    Bonanza Kings: The Social Origins and Business Behavior of
Western Mining Entrepreneurs, 1870-1900, University of Nebraska Press,
Lincoln, Nebraska.

    1991  Bonanza Rich: Lifestyles of the Western Mining Entrepreneurs.
University of Idaho, Moscow, Idaho.

I need some non Western Australian references to the practice of  building
the bosses homes or locating their offices so that they visibly look down
on their workers. I remember going through such literature years ago but
can't come up with the proper references. One in particular I remember was
an analysis of a company town in America.
