WGBH-FM offers some fine classical radio programming indeed - and that
is becoming more and more of a rarity with local public radio stations
- but that is not NPR programming per se.
More typical of NPR is the five-minute item on All Things Considered,
or somesuch, profiling a classical musician, or a cute moment in the
life of a classical musician - and then failing utterly to bother to
identify the snippets of music played by said classical musician.
To be fair, most of the non-classical music profiled on NPR has something
distinctive to contribute - almost always (but not always always) worth
a listening. And they have presented the occasional item covering a new
work by a living classical composer.
